LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS: Layering on Style

Let's Hear it for the Boys

For a while now, the weather has smelled like spring might be around the corner sooner than expected in Boulder, Colorado. The days have been much warmer and brighter than they usually are in the middle of winter. But, any good Coloradoan knows better than to hope for a nice break from the cold and snow flurries. As per usual, we were hit with more snow. Once again, Fashionistas and Fashionistos alike had to don their winter garb when hitting the streets. This Fashionisto in particular dressed his layers to his advantage in terms of both practicality and style.

Layers are important when bundling up for the cold weather. A peacoat like this one from Kenneth Cole will not only keep the cold weather at bay, but it will also keep you fashionable. Of course, the exterior portion of your outfit can’t be the only stylish part. As soon as you take your coat off in class, what’s under the jacket has to look just as classy and functional. This is why this Fashionisto paired a white button-down shirt with his blue and white striped J.Crew tie that matches his coat.  He also sports a simple pair of light blue jeans and Nike tennis shoes. The one element that completely sets this look apart though, is the unexpected addition of the red fleece pullover (not usually worn over a shirt and tie). This added pop of color heats up this Fashionisto’s ensemble for a warmer winter.

Hint: In order to make the best out of the rest of winter, layer on the warmth and the fashion. Pairing classic pieces like a button-down shirt and tie with casual must-haves for school like jeans and sneakers is definitely stylish. To look red-hot and catch everyone’s eye, try adding a brightly colored layer between your coat and shirt. And speaking of your coat, don’t forget that even jackets have something to say about your style. Peacoats make any Fashionisto look instantly more refined.
