Although the semester is now in full swing, it seems as though the warm spring weather is still so far off. The temperatures are low, the wind speed is high and all of my classmates are bundled from head-to-toe. So I decided to just go with it and focus on some of the winter essentials that go along with keeping warm.
This week I spotted a Fashionisto who made bundling-up look like a runway worthy outfit. Rather than wearing a big bulky coat over his fabulous ensemble, he wore a variety of layers under his sweater and added a scarf for both flare and function. His look is finished off by a pair of cuffed camel-toned denim and sleek black ankle boots, which really add a touch of sophistication to the overall outfit.
What I like about this look is that it has a lot going on within it; however, by letting each layer simply “peak” out from under his sweater, the layers don’t overpower the simplicity of the look. In addition to this Fashionisto’s savvy layering skills, he also has a knack for picking out just the right accessories. His striped scarf is the perfect choice for not only keeping warm, but also for offsetting the variety of layers showing at the bottom of his sweater. Even his backpack complements the colors found within his ensemble and makes the entire look both cohesive and functional.
This Fashionisto’s look is a great example of how to stay warm without getting lost in overpowering outerwear. By layering underneath, you can keep warm while still looking put together and fabulous.
Hint: Layering is a great opportunity to add a pop of color to an otherwise neutral outfit. This Fashionisto added a pop of green under his gray sweater and it really added some visual interest to his look as a whole.
