Ah, layering: that tricky skill that suddenly becomes very crucial during the winter months. The minute you get outside, you’re freezing and then it feels like the middle of summer once you step back inside. The little struggles of winter are real. And how about that big winter coat? It’s warm, but sometimes feeling restricted and puffy isn’t how you feel like spending your day. So, throw on a hoodie and layer up.
This Fashionisto pairs a casual maroon hoodie with a black canvas jacket. Hoodies are often underrated and seen as a last resort, but when paired with pieces other than sweatpants they can be a nice, and warm addition. This one is a classic from American Eagle Outfitters. His jacket is a good everyday alternative to the usual puffy winter jacket. Many jackets of this style have come in an army green, but this Fashionisto goes for a darker look. I like the contrast between the two, with the hood sticking out above the jacket. The colors go together nicely, and maroon is one of my favorite colors for fall and winter. He wears a pair of classic khaki pants, which are a nice alternative to jeans. The khaki also goes perfectly with his jackets.
There’s not (too much) snow on the ground yet, so you can still get away with sneakers with warm socks. I like how this Fashionisto went for the less worn red Converse, which are simple, but stand out. They never go out of style, and can be worn with just about anything. And isn’t that what we all want in our clothes?
