Winter, what’s that again? Although it seems that Global Warming has eliminated winter this year, I am quite okay with it. With temperatures creeping into the 70s in January, it seems as though mother nature is already counting down the seconds until summer, much like the rest of us students after only one week of school. With that being said, we can throw all of those puffers and peacoats into the back of our closets and opt for layers in order to keep up with the changing weather. Quite possibly the greatest thing about layers, besides their fashion appeal, is the ability to just peel off each piece as the sun grows brighter and hotter during the day. Layers also allow endless combinations, so let your creativity and inner Fashionisto shine by mixing patterns, prints and textures.
This Fashionisto has his layers down to the T with the perfect balance of patterns, colors and texture. By pairing a basic black hoodie with a striped, collared shirt and sleek, dark wash jeans, he looks put together yet comfortable for a long day of classes. A pair of classic Chuck Taylors tone down the dressier jeans and make them more suitable for daytime. A black beanie not only gives this Fashionisto an edgy vibe, but also provides warmth for chillier mornings and afternoons. And let’s not forget about the scarf, it takes a serious man to wear and pull off a scarf these days. By layering a basic cotton scarf with a hoodie, you can emulate the perfect layered yet polished look.
Hint: Keep your layers on the thinner side (ie: a T-shirt and hoodie rather than a thick sweater and puffy coat) to avoid looking like a snowman.
