There are certain types of clothing that girls love to see on a guy: sweaters and cardigans, flannels and not-too-deep v-necks, just to name a few. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but there’s something special about a man wearing a button-down — especially if it fits him well. It’s finals season at Temple, and it’s nice to see that our men are still taking pride in their appearances and showing up to campus looking dapper. The ladies appreciate the view!
This week’s Fashionisto offsets a navy blue and white polka-dot button-down with rust-colored cords. He wears classic black leather boots on his feet and a digital watch that triples as a calculator and an alarm clock on his wrist.
The vertical stripes in his corduroy pants help to balance the small polka-dot print on his shirt and the texture of the pants add eye-catching detail. If the polka-dots were larger, his outfit could appear childish and clownish — small details can have a big impact on an outfit.
If you think button-downs are too stuffy for you, think again! Instead of buttoning the shirt, wear it open with either a screen tee, patterned tee or plain tee. If you choose a screen tee, I’d suggest wearing a plain colored button-up instead of a patterned one.
Hint: When you’re wearing a button-down, roll your sleeves up to about the same length as a three quarter sleeved shirt. It’ll show off your forearms. For some reason, the ladies love it. I can’t explain why that is — we just do.
