Let's Hear it for the Boys

It’s not uncommon to match the pieces of an outfit together. We all often look for colors that correlate, but rarely ever work with one color in different hues. This can be a tricky thing to do when using brighter colors, but when using neutrals, the outcome can be pretty cool. This Fashionisto worked with different shades of browns and khaki and even added in some gray to create a look based on neutral tones, which was fitting for the recent gloomy April weather.

This Fashionisto created a look based around his cool bomber jacket. The jacket was passed down from his mother, who also wore it when she attended college. The brown jacket has a really unique lining of a map of the world in the inside. Pieces like this are hard to find, but you might be lucky searching a nearby thrift shop or consignment store. The jacket was paired with khaki chinos, and a pop of color was added with a bright blue plaid shirt from Rue 21. Although this shirt is the only bright piece seen in the look, it works well with the others colors, bringing them all together. It is layered on top of a yellow tee from Target.

Even this Fashionisto’s shoes scream neutral. He wore a pair of rugged gray boots made by Frye, perfect for the weather, and accessorized his look simply with a gray hat. He proves that you don’t have to have a bunch of bright or offbeat colors to look cool or fashionable.

Hint: When creating a look based on one color, expand throughout the scheme. You don’t have to use the same exact color throughout.
