As the weather begins to shift in D.C and the sun is starting to stay up longer, layering becomes the go-to look. If you have to be up in the morning for an early class you can bundle up and then as the temperature climbs you can shed any unwanted layers. That was this Fashionisto’s frame of mind when he got dressed in the morning. He had a busy day of classes and no time to change, so he layered his look.
One of the great aspects of this outfit is the opportunity to blend colors, textures and fabrics. This Fashionisto chose to start off with a crisp blue button-down and then he added a causal gray hoodie with a flannel to top it all off. An American Apparel hoodie is a great basic to own, especially when layering. The simple gray color will pair perfectly with jeans and a tee or gym shorts and a tank.
A flannel is another great basic when bundling up. This Urban Outfitters style will keep you warm while adding both color and texture to your look. When it comes to the bottom half of his ensemble, this Fashionisto kept it simple. He chose to pair his layers with dark denim and a pair of brown Sperry Top-Siders. By toning down other aspects of his look it created a unified and relaxed outfit. Next time you have a long day and are looking to layer, try taking a page out of this Fashionisto’s book.
Hint: When layering be sure to stay within a certain color scheme in order to avoid an overwhelming look.
