Loyola University Chicago needs some well deserved recognition. Joy has covered campus. Just walk around for a few moments and you’ll notice wreaths, large red bows, multiple decorated Christmas trees, mistletoes and scrumptious treats in almost every building. Most recently, the University outdid itself by turning the Damen Student Center into a winter wonderland with an ice-skating rink, a Christmas tree lighting ceremony, gingerbread houses and jolly ol’ St. Nick.
With all that festivity, it’s no wonder the students have started to wear their holiday gear as well — it’s contagious, and this Fashionisto is a prime example. Layers, colors and textures made the look stand out.
For me, the head turner of this outfit was the sweater. You can never go wrong with chunky classic pieces for the winter — even if the item has a light up Rudolph. At least it’s unique and attention getting.
Speaking of unique, this Fashionisto’s accessories were just that. For example, his wooden watch added another textural dimension to the look, and his tribal print black and white backpack contrasted the bold reds, greens and blues in his sweater. Not to mention, his black and brown rubber snow boots that tied in the suede base of his backpack.
Hint: Get festive — better yet, get creative. Now is the best time of year to show off your holiday cheer. I’ve seen snowflake earrings and the “ugly Christmas sweater” worn in the most adorable of ways, so don’t be afraid to incorporate all aspects of the season into your wardrobe. Besides, if the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) can get in the holiday spirit with loads of garland, elves and Santa himself, why can’t you?
