When it comes to dressing, it is clear that some people think inside the box, and others think outside of that box. Of course, the most progressive people in fashion are those who look outside the lines of normalcy and are responsible for a creative and unexpected outlook on fashion. This Fashionisto is one of those people.
While discussing style mantras and clothing principles, this Fashionisto expressed to me that his sense of style stemmed from an early age. He said that in high school he was always dressed differently than everyone else, and a career in fashion was somewhat expected of him by his peers. Well his peers were right, because this Fashionisto, now a junior, has been designing clothing since the start of his collegiate career.
Stemming from a design savvy mind, this Fashionisto has put together today’s outfit which to me is slightly hip hop version of a 1990s Prince ensemble. The royal purple shade is an attractive color, especially when paired with an equally stark shade of the black harem pants (a favorite piece of this Fashionisto.) The hip hop elements I’m really referring to comes in the form of the Fashionisto’s shades, which are embellished with a gold metallic chain and the screen print on the T-shirt.
The Fashionisto keeps the outfit summertime appropriate by adding the faux-leather brown slip on sandals and an infinity scarf, which both add a bohemian flair to the look. Each piece of the outfit is an American bought purchase — except the harem pants, which were an online buy from Korea.
Hint: When buying abroad, choose a piece that will really stand out on its own and attract attention. Do not purchase something without a wow factor that could be similarly bought here in the states. If the pieces has a story you are going to want to tell it, but people have to want to ask first!
