In the spirit of the 2014 Olympics, I decided to get in-touch with my athletic side. As you can probably tell by now, my camera and I always seems to gravitate more towards the daring Fashionistos. There’s nothing more refreshing to wake you up on a gloomy day than a floral print, better yet, a statement. Like any Olympian, I could tell this Fashionisto chose this printed varsity jacket with no hesitation. The print has its own masculine touch with its unique basket woven knit. Although we go to school in the country, I definitely felt an urban vibe for these antique undertones of deep floral and shiny brass buttons.
Varsity jackets are a staple right now; as seen on Style.com, the “sporty and streetwise” varsity jacket in the Fayed brothers’ line, Bespoken, spring 2014 collection. Whether you’re simple or looking for a change, the styles for varsity jackets are endless. If you choose to be stamped with a print, floral is one of the many. Or if you’re looking for a neutral, color-blocking is a fun way to take your look one step further. No matter which style you decide on, the sporty role of a varsity jacket will always be intact. This Fashionisto knows how to relay the varsity status beyond school grounds.
An acid wash T-shirt and gold-tone watch complement the floral jacket, while ripped jeans and tennis shoes complete this outfit from top to bottom. The wash of the under shirt gives the element of complexity by using the same colors with effortless imperfections of a pattern. When in the end, no matter if he woke up not knowing it, the black tennis shoes and book-bag are a dynamic duo to the navy sleeves.
Hint: Try chinos instead of jeans or boots instead of athletic shoes. Go all in and add an extra accessory, like a hat! When you own a statement piece like a varsity jacket that can be worn multiple ways, don’t be afraid to switch it up according to your mood. I encourage all the Fashionistos out there reading to experiment with versatile pieces. Even though this Fashionisto chose a floral print, the varsity jacket will forever be classic.
