After a very long break, the University of Delaware has finally started up again for the spring semester and it’s safe to say everyone is excited. With the sun shining throughout campus, the cold weather hasn’t seemed so bad. Combined with the desire to impress new professors and classmates, some of us felt bold enough to take off our down coats for the first time in weeks.
I spotted one Fashionisto rocking one of this years most sought after trends — the army green jacket. It’s one of those trends that have come in and out over the decades and definitely an item you should invest in and keep for years to come. This year we saw it pop up a lot during the fall and continued into the winter and hopefully will continue further into the spring as well. His jacket had military style pockets and a faux fur lined hood for extra warmth. He paired it with a teal crewneck sweater to rebel against the mundane, while still maintaining warm winter tones.
The worn-in leather of his shoes gives off a well-dressed vibe while keeping him from looking too stuffy or polished. Leather desert boots or oxfords can be the perfect addition to your winter wardrobe because they can be paired with thick wool socks and still keep you warm while pulling together a casual winter outfit. Rather than sticking with the traditional backpack, this Fashionisto chose to make use of a cognac leather messenger bag. All together, his mix of leather accessories with the military trend made for a good start to the spring semester.
Hint: If you’re looking to get in on the military trend but don’t want to pay big bucks for the ones on the market today, check your local thrift stores or consignment shops. This military trend is one that began as early as the 1960s, so there are plenty of existing jackets in circulation that are super cool and unique.
