LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS: Fashionable Finals

Let's Hear it for the Boys

Finals week. The time of the semester that every college student dreads and complains about. Luckily for us Tulane students the week has come and gone and after the many all-nighters, endless research papers and overdoses on caffeine, we have somehow survived. Unfortunately, finals week tends to take a large toll on our wardrobes, which is understandable. It can be hard for anyone to look put together when getting dressed for an 8 a.m. final or when heading to study in the library for an entire day. However, it’s still possible and easier than you think to be dress comfortably without throwing on mismatched athletic shorts or sweatpants and T-shirts. This week’s Fashionisto is great inspiration for a fashionable and casual studying outfit.

If you’re in a pinch for time and have nothing to wear, a T-shirt is still a good option but as this Fashionisto demonstrates, a graphic T-shirt can be a perfect upgrade. It instantly adds an interesting element to the outfit and makes it look like you spent more time putting it together than you did. I’ve written before about all the wonderful aspects of graphic T-shirts but there really is an endless amount of options. This Fashionisto had on a band T-shirt and this type of shirt has been popular for years. This season though, I’ve seen a lot of animals on shirts like this shirt that has tiger sleeves. I’ve also noticed a lot of graphic tank tops for men which are a great way to change things up on an extra hot day.

A simple pair of colored sneakers are ideal for finals week to keep comfortable. Walking to and from the library can be more walking than you think, especially if you end up leaving to look for new study spots. All you need to complete the rest of your look is a pair of simple shorts whether you want to wear denim shorts, khakis or athletic shorts if you just can’t give them up. Add some simple accessories such as a belt and glasses like this Fashionisto and you’re good to go.

Hint: To bring a graphic T-shirt from day to night you can simply switch your bottoms to a pair of dark blue or black jeans for a stylish and cool look. To make it even dressier add some neutral chinos or colored pants for a bolder outfit.
