Denim jeans have been a part of the fashion world for decades, but the creation of these popular daily bottoms were intended for a completely different purpose. German immigrant Levi Strauss invented this garment to better assist miners of the California Gold Rush in the mid to late 1800s. Denim has an excellent resistance to abrasion, so the miners’ new clothing by Strauss lasted much longer. Fast forward to as early as the ’30s, denim jeans were first initiated into the industry and became a fashion statement. From miners to cowboys and hippies to Hollywood starlets, the journey of jeans has brought us to today. We don’t have to put on a pair of our good ol’ blue jeans for the intention of doing manual labor. Jeans are trendy and can be dressed down for a casual day of class or dressed up for an evening in the city.
This week’s Fashionisto is looking just right in his dark denim jeans. The darker the denim, the dressier the look gets. He paired his bottoms with a colorful button-down shirt consisting of red, blue and white. This top is perfect for this Fashionisto’s outfit because it breaks up the dark color of his jeans and the dark color of his jacket. For outerwear, he is sporting a navy blue peacoat. He has his peacoat unbuttoned for a more laid back effect. On his feet are light caramel brown boots. What I love most about these shoes is the texture. They appear to be suede to the eye but are actually leather to the touch!
Hint: Dressing up your jeans can be a very easy task if you know how to style it correctly. Remember that the darker the jean is, the more flattering and appropriate it will look for an evening event. Pair your bottoms with a nice button-down top, a polo shirt or even a V-neck T-shirt. The magic happens when you add your classic peacoat or leather jacket and your favorite dress shoes or boots. You will be amazed at how quick and easy you got ready for your night out with the guys. Good luck Fashionistos and have a happy holiday!
