LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS: Don’t Shoot The Messenger

Let's Hear it for the Boys

Jean button-down, casual black pants, some sort of ridiculously warm, fuzzy jacket — these three pieces have proven to be true Syracuse University Fashionisto wardrobe staples. So where the fun comes in is seeing how the fashionable take these staples and make them their own.

This Fashionisto can regularly be seen around campus rocking his signature golden smile. He’s also usually never spotted without his sleek Chelsea boots, ’50s thick-rimmed glasses and journalist-chic messenger satchel.

But let’s start with the basics. This Fashionisto layers his ensemble with the trendy staples. He updates classic black pants with a richer, warmer twill pair. He wears his denim button-down almost all the way buttoned up, casually thrown over a basic white T-shirt. Finally, he keeps warm with a fleece-lined and rope accented jacket with the ever-convenient hood.

Here’s where the fun begins. The Fashionisto’s black Chelsea boots are sleek and swanky. For a more casual Chelsea boot look, try this warm, shearling-lined pair from UGG in black or chestnut. And even though I’m beyond obsessed that this Fashionisto is rocking one of my favorite boot styles ever, I’m slightly more obsessed with his perfectly worn in brown leather messenger satchel. It screams classic, nonchalant chic on the go, and fits perfectly with this Fashionisto’s journalist lifestyle. If classic elegance isn’t your cup of tea, and you’re looking for a pop of color in the drab and gray winter, try out this vibrant red Filson messenger bag. Finally, his ’50s nerd-boy glasses perfectly frame his urban collegiate updates on the Syracuse University Fashionisto staples.

Hint: This Fashionisto wears his rolled-up pants over the tops of his Chelsea boots, which makes it harder to tell he’s rocking amazing boots and not simply loafers. Don’t be afraid to tuck your skinny jeans into the boots or cuff them a little higher to show the boots off. Chelsea boots have been fashionable since the equestrian-chic Victorian era, so you really have nothing to be afraid of. You might as well show them off.
