The term spring semester can be quite misleading in the first few months of the year. The snow on the ground and the grey skies tend to clog our memory, but once the slightest bit of warmth hits—students can be found outside every second they can get, and doing so with style. With that glimpse of warm weather, this Fashionisto was found sporting a trend that’s hard to be done quite right; denim on denim.
No one wants to be seen walking around campus looking like Justin Timberlake circa 2001 at the Grammys, so listen up for the perfect way to avoid that fashion don’t. The easiest way to avoid a fashion nightmare of this nature is to go for two opposing washes of denim. It will not matter if the light wash is on the top or on the bottom. This Fashionisto successfully wears the darker wash on his legs, which tend to give a more fitted look.
The spring fever was definitely slipping into this Fashinisto’s radar with his bright pop of Aztec print underneath the denim jacket. This is a subtle yet fun way to transition an outfit from winter to spring without being overbearing. The Aztec print can be done year round but the neon blue is usually a bit much for the winter months. By layering it under a jacket and in a understated fashion, this ensemble could be worn year round.
To complete his look, this Fashionisto wore black boots. He chose a classic footwear that is still a practical way to walk around campus as the snow melts.
Hint: For a more fun and spring like outfit, try losing the jacket or a brighter shirt underneath the denim.
