Whenever my jeans have either been too short or just at an awkward length on me, I have always used the classic trick of cuffing my jeans a little. This trick that I used in order to fix my look has been on the rise in fashion no longer as a fixer-upper, but just as a regular form of detail in an outfit. Whether seen in the Urban Outfitters Catalogue, or on almost every Scandinavian guy I have met here in Finland this summer, cuffing one’s pants is the perfect way to add a little extra in one’s look.
Spending my last weekend in Helsinki near the docks enjoying the hot summer, there was quite a large number of people walking along the water enjoying the perfect summer sunset, myself included. And then, two guys walked past (and can I mention were casually the marines for the King of Norway’s yacht) sporting the intriguing cuffed pant look and fell victim to CollegeFashionista.
The Fashionisto on the right wore a white button-down, light blue jeans and Converse. The Fashionisto on the left sported a button-down as well, paired with brown chinos and espadrilles. Although both looks would look great without the trick of rolling up their jean hems, the cuffed pant gave and extra umph, with a young twist to an otherwise classic preppy ensemble. This cuffed jeans did just the trick to ease down this look to the perfect balance of polished yet casual.
Hint: Since both looks were very preppy on top, the jeans rolled up gave the sense of ease that was fitting for the seaside environment. Whenever in need to make a look casual, cuff your pants!
