You say spring 2012 and I say color-blocked. The color-blocked trend was ruler of all trends being the standout in countless collections. United Colors of Benetton created its whole spring/summer collection around vibrant color-block looks. Pairing blue pants with a red shirt, yellow socks, purple shoes and a green jacket seems outlandish, but it works. There is something so appealing about wearing the rainbow that now, almost two years later, we still can’t seem to shake off the eye-catching shades.
In fashion many things tend to get overdone. All the best Fashionistas/os know that with certain patterns and colors you need a simple classic cut. With the fearless hues it is only fitting that the styles on color-blocked clothing be preppy and simple in their design. This London-born Fashionisto knew how to stick to the classic tailoring when playing with vibrant colors. London is known for its exquisite tailoring, so it comes as no surprise that this Fashionisto knew exactly how to pick the perfect fitted shirt and chinos.
When I spotted this college Fashionisto walking down the street it was his bright blue loafers that caught my eye. The outfit screams preppy Cape Cod style and the salmon chinos belted with a royal blue suede belt gives these crisp fall days the perfect reminder of summer. While a summer reminder is always welcome, we can not help to miss summer, especially with winter being just around the corner. But hey, as long as the Fashionistos keep the bright colors coming I am okay with winter creeping up on us.
Hint: If you are choosing bright colors or a bold pattern make sure you pick simple cut pieces to let the color or pattern be the main focus of your look.
