We finally had our first taste of fall weather. In my excitement, I appropriately became very overwhelmed as to which sweater I should wear. I don’t know about you, but once the weather turns crisp and the clouds roll over the sun, I feel more inclined to put a little extra thought into what I wear. I can’t exactly say why, but it’s probably because layering is something we just didn’t do in Florida (for obvious reasons). At first, layering seemed so complicated; however, I soon realized that with a few layering basics it can be quite easy! This Fashionisto’s pulled-together look is everything I love about fall layering, complete with classic pieces and a rich color palate.
A sweater over an oxford shirt is probably one of the oldest tricks in the book. No matter the occasion, it always works for both boys and girls. This look could take you from class to a job to a date in no sweat. The usual recipe for this is a blue or white shirt under a dark colored sweater. This Fashionisto puts a pink shirt and red sweater together to create a Valentine’s day worthy look. However, this color combination is by no means out of season and creates a nice pop of color on a gray day. This Fashionisto pairs the look with dark jeans, but chinos or corduroy pants are both respectable choices.
I love this Fashioniosto’s khaki utility jacket. This color is usually set aside for the trench coats, but is a great play on the army green utility jackets we have seen the past couple of seasons. It is also a nice, lighter choice among many other dark fall jackets.
The last fall essential has to be versatile closed-toe shoes. This Fashionisto sports a pair of worn-in brown chukka boots, a classic for years. Clarks makes a great pair in a variety of colors. Well worth the investment, these shoes can be worn to class or for more formal occasions (or all the time if you just adore them).
