Movies are a great source for style inspiration. Films like The Outsiders, Grease and Romeo and Juliet (the Leonardo DiCaprio version) are full of greaser fashion. Think slicked back hair, iconic leather jackets and a black wardrobe. These old movies are your perfect source for finding an edgy and fearless outfit.
Sometimes it’s best to stick to the classics, just ask this Fashionisto. He looks cool, sleek and stylish. His black Yves Saint Laurent coat and black American Apparel T-shirt gives off the “too cool for school” look. It works since New York is notorious for being too cool for color. Here in NYC, black is this year’s pink (Wicked reference for all you Broadway fans).
This Fashionisto sported slicked-back hair just like Danny Zuko, Ponyboy Curtis and Marlon Brando (with gel of course not grease). By opting for a nice pair of gray dress pants, his outfit becomes more formal. To complete his ensemble he wore a black Calvin Klein belt and Zara Oxford dress shoes. Aside from his polished look, his tattoos also caught my attention. He had a tattoo on each wrist, one saying “fearless” and the other saying “karma.”
This Fashionisto has reinvented the ‘Cool Kid On The Block’ look. Try putting together different pieces from your closet to create something similar.
Hint: You can get this Fashionisto’s look by investing in a leather jacket. Instead of wearing a white T-shirt under it, dress it up by wearing a black one.
