Finals week has come and gone, the stress has been lifted off our shoulders and it is time for summer. Though it sure didn’t feel like summer was approaching these past few weeks in State College with the rain and not so warm weather. Jeans, sweatshirts and boots have been all over campus despite it being May. At least we weren’t missing out on gorgeous days while being locked up in the library studying.
But, how about an alternative to your average hoodie; why not try this layered look like this Fashionisto instead? This look is a perfect example of taking the new spring/summer pieces we have all been dying to show off, while also keeping warm enough for the not so spring temperatures we have been experiencing.
I think the white cardigan this Fashionisto has on is a perfect choice because the white color and light colored shirt underneath keep the outfit set on spring, while also adding an extra layer. The cardigan is great because it can be worn in many ways — casual, like we see here or for a more business style outfit. I love the personal touch this Fashionisto added to his look by rolling the cuffs of the denim shirt over the cardigan’s sleeves. It is a simple and easy option to complete and better the outfit.
The denim/chambray shirt is a must have for the spring and summer. It is lightweight and soft, so the comfort factor is not an issue. It is a timeless piece and always looks stylish. Plus, I love the buttoned all the way up look! It is similar to any other button-up, but it looks instantly more fashionable without any extra effort, and during finals week, most college students don’t want to have to put in additional thought into anything other than their exams.
The slim fit jeans also are a definite with a cardigan. Baggy jeans or pants will destroy the look. With the contrast between the black jeans and white cardigan, this Fashionisto is definitely in good taste. I support this Fashionisto in keeping the colors the same in his accessory choices. The consistency in the brown leather bag and shoes is the best way to capture the street look.
Hint: With just a few twists, an outfit has the potential to look more stylish without putting in much more effort. Try rolling up your cuffs, buttoning all the way up or adding an extra layer. A small change could make a big difference!
