One major aspect of transitioning a winter wardrobe into a spring/summer wardrobe is the use of color as certain colors are distinctively seasonal. Some color rules such as the “no white after Labor Day” idea are questionable. But as a whole, the colors we wear in summer are obviously different from the ones we wear in the wintertime.
This week’s Fashionisto caught my eye because of the simple, yet bold way in which he utilizes color in this look. Guys wear pants the majority of the year, no matter what season it is, so if you ask me it’s important to have a collection of pants that are a mix of basic and bold.
The chinos seen on this Fashionisto are a great example of a colorful piece that can be transitioned from the winter to spring. A similar tone is available at Ben Sherman. As spring is (hopefully) fast approaching, these pants are a piece the Fashionisto will not have to cycle out of his wardrobe. When weather finally gets a little warmer, this look could be adapted by throwing on a basic tee. Another way to make a statement through pants is to work with pattern. There are many options available, ranging from subtle embroidery to bold prints.
Hint: A simple way to dress up this look in order to emulate a dressy casual style would be to add a sport coat or blazer. This chambray blazer is something that could be styled with both summer and winter pieces. Wear it with darker and warmer toned colors for now, and lighter, cooler toned colors in the summer.
