I have never been a fan of the color orange. Although I mentioned the color before (see here), I never knew how to incorporate it into my own wardrobe. I’ve tried on orange articles of clothing, but I always thought the color looked strange against my warm skin tone. I’ve stayed away from it for the most part, but after seeing this Fashionisto I might want to add it to my wardrobe.
This Fashionisto wears a white, orange and blue plaid button-down, khaki pants, a white watch and blue and orange Nike sneakers. The orange in his outfit is subtle, like the lines on his shirt and the pops of it on his sneakers, but it happened to be the first thing I noticed about his outfit. He also incorporates two different shades of blue, which gives his outfit that extra something. His outfit has a neutral color palette of whites and khaki, but that lets the colors instantly stand out.
To adopt this look, wear a classic piece like a button-down and look for patterns that would include orange in it. It’s easy to find the color in plaids or vertical stripes. If you don’t want to stick with neutral colors, jeans work as an alternative because blue and orange complement each other.
Hint: If you don’t know how to integrate orange into your wardrobe or you just want to dip your toe into the water, you can simply wear something neutral that uses the color orange to add to the overall look of the item of clothing (this shirt from H&M is a nice piece to add into your wardrobe). If you want to be bold, wear pants or jeans in the color. Just balance it out with other neutral pieces to let the color be the main attraction. But hey, if you’re fearless enough to wear a lot of orange, my props go to you.
