Have you ever wondered if it’s possible to dress appropriately for a professional workplace or internship without looking like The Office‘s Dwight Schrute? While Dwight effortlessly pulled off cap-sleeved, mustard yellow button-downs, the same cannot be said for the majority of the population. So that brings us to this question: How can you incorporate your own personal style when you are dressing for a professional atmosphere? Fear not, as this week’s Fashionisto shows us how to perfect business casual.
He starts off his outfit with a maroon V-neck sweater. Wearing rich, saturated colors such as maroon instantly causes an outfit to read as sophisticated. He layers the sweater with a light brown and black varsity-style jacket. In general, varsity jackets are a good way to add some personality and uniqueness to an otherwise basic outfit. That being said, our Fashionisto’s jacket is still dressy enough to wear to work. Our Fashionisto pairs his sweater and jacket with grayish blue dress pants. Any Fashionisto should invest in a pair of well-fitted slacks as they look professional and can be worn to any formal event. Our Fashionisto finishes off his outfit with black leather shoes. Much like dress slacks, leather shoes should be a necessity in any Fashionisto’s closet. Black leather shoes, in particular, add class to any ensemble.
Hint: Are you not entirely sure as what to wear to your new job or internship? Use this week’s Fashionisto as an example of how to remind stylish while still looking appropriate for the workplace. Consider wearing rich colors, such as maroon, navy or forest green. Also investing in some leather shoes and dressy slacks pants would be a good decision.
