This week we finally had another sunny day here in beautiful Kent, Ohio. Not only was the sun out, but it was actually warming up the place! After the weather we’ve been having, I wasn’t sure that it even did that anymore. Either way, the wonderful weather encouraged some fabulous spring style all across campus and it was almost impossible to pick just one Fashionisto to feature! However, as always, one in particular caught my eye.
This week’s Fashionisto sported all black on this sun-shining day, something that I find myself doing quite often. Although many people might see it as a downer to wear such a dark ensemble on a nice spring day, I find it to be quite the opposite. I think that by wearing black in the spring, you are able to contrast your look against the bright natural scenery that surrounds you, therefore making a bold and attractive statement.
This Fashionisto wore his black in an innovative way by mixing both modern and classic pieces. He put together a modern graphic T-shirt with a pair of classic black chinos and suede dress shoes. Then really set his look off with a few key accessories including his hat, headphones and all-black sunglasses (a necessity for this sunny day). His look is sleek and casual with plenty of visual interest; a great example of how to wear all-black without looking the slightest bit bland.
Hint: When wearing all-black, try utilizing different textures within your look. This will allow certain pieces to stand out against others, even though they are all the same color.
