It’s the last month of school for The University of Alabama, and as the weather gets better and better, students around campus are itching to bust out their bright colors for summer. Though it’s finally warming up down south, Fashionistos and Fashionistas still have to keep up appearances till school is out. This Fashionisto embraced the summer weather and still kept his look sharp, by dressing up and adding a pop of color.
Keeping the palette neutral, this Fashionisto started with a pair of gray pants. A little fancier than plain denim, gray was a great way to go into color without simply wearing khaki. The fit worked well, having a slimming effect without being extremely tight. I feel like that is a great example of when you can call yourself an adult, when you know how to buy clothes that fit. That and paying taxes of course.
The top part of the outfit was very retro, a crisp white shirt paired with a black skinny tie. Skinny ties have really come back from the past as a chic way to wear a tie. Instead of wearing a neat patterned tie, Fashionistos like this one are going for a more streamlined skinny tie. The cut of this tie is also a clever way to slim down someone’s frame, as it brings the eyes in to the center of the body. This usually is a classic combo, but what really made it stand out was the sleek tie clip. The tie clip was a really funky detail that made this casual get up a cool take on a vintage trend.
The shoes were almost matching with the pants, a pair of gray sneakers. Matching the shoes with the pants was a smart way to allow color somewhere else, so that multiple colors aren’t competing for the spotlight. This Fashionisto added a small detail of color though, which were his blue shoe laces. Switching out the white shoe laces that already come with sneakers is a creative way to add new life to a pair of shoes.
Finally, finishing off the outfit with a loud splash of color, this Fashionisto topped off his ensemble with a bright blue hoodie. I loved how this Fashionisto zipped up his hoodie half way, almost acting like a blazer. The hoodie allowed the shirt and tie to peek through just a bit, but it was enough to keep the outfit causal, and professional. By switching out a structured jacket or blazer with a hoodie or cardigan, this Fashionisto achieved comfortability and looking presentable in a working environment.
Color is all the rage for summer and warmer months. Adding a pop of color to an outfit can keep you on trend and not complicate matchings or pairings, making summer easy as it should be.
Hint: Tie clips can be embellished or engraved to make all sorts of fun expressions of your personality, it doesn’t have to be plain!
