For the past three months or so, we’ve spent countless hours indulging in delicious cookouts, sleeping in, steamy afternoons by the pool and late night frozen custard runs with our bests. Now, the semester of fall 2013 awaits our return. We’ve said our goodbyes, packed our belongings and are going back to school — back to the days of infinite assignment deadlines, doing our own laundry (or for some, not doing any at all) and irresistibly overpriced dining hall food. But who’s to say returning to school should follow a life of monochrome monotony?
Certainly not this young gentleman! I spotted this fine Fashionisto on his way to dinner on Brown Street (a street near campus filled with a variety of restaurants and eateries) to meet up with his boys after not seeing them all summer. It was the pairing of his classic white H&M shirt and straight-leg blue American Eagle Outfitters pants that caught my eye. The color combination made both elements of the outfit pop. With any piece of art there is always a centerpiece, the star of the show. Without a doubt, this Fashionisto’s centerpiece, or rather centerpieces, were his Converse All-Stars black patent leather high-tops. He could have easily chosen to slip on the ever-so-generic Sperry Top-Siders or flip flops, but by choosing these high-tops he put a twist on the outfit that was original and specific to his style. In regard to accessories, he said he likes to “keep it simple, ” and his Nike FuelBand did just that for him. Counting the amount of steps you take daily and the calories you’ve burned, the unisex FuelBand serves as an easy accessory in addition to a quality fitness device.
Considering most college boys tend to wear whatever happens to be in their clean pile of clothes, it is extremely refreshing to eye a well-dressed boy on campus. Though it is always easier to opt for basketball shorts and a T-shirt, putting the slightest bit of thought into your style can exude confidence and maturity. Returning to school after an extended period of time, it is the duty of a true Fashionisto to remind his peers of what he is truly about. Make the most of even small occasions, like dinner with friends or a sunny Tuesday filled with classes. Schoolwork may at times be unexciting and dismal, but dressing yourself is one task that should never be! Make a statement this fall, challenge yourself to dress well for class, invest in a new accessory, wear something you love and remember to always keep your style on.
Hint: For those of you living in warmer areas, American Eagle Outfitters also sells khaki shorts in a beautiful assortment of colors. For those of you in cooler areas, a black or gray cardigan would be the perfect addition to this ensemble to make it more fall-ready.
