We may be slightly depressed that school is back in session and we have to spend our Sundays sulking in the library, but there’s nothing sad about this Fashionisto rocking out in shades of blue. Designers were mixing blues all over the fall 2013 runways. Prada featured a particularly amazing ensemble of shiny powder blue pants and a navy blazer, and Lanvin showed a similar color-combo, but with an oversized cobalt peacoat over skinny periwinkle trousers.
Our Fashionisto keeps things a little more casual and summer inspired with his nautical striped navy and white long sleeve tee, layered over a comfy gray T-shirt and paired with some sky blue skinnies that he so perfectly and casually cuffs. His ensemble with blue variations works because the colors aren’t so similar that they clash. They make their separate statements, yet play off of each other to unite the look.
This Fashionisto also adds a pop of color with some bright red Vans. Don’t be afraid to add a surprise color pop to your look, but you can also keep your shoes with the blue theme. These French blue Vans will add a fresh feel against navies and balance out lighter blues.
Whether its your shoes, a blazer or even a backpack, back to school blues are the most refreshing trend we’ve seen since skinny ties. So dare to be bold. Dare to be blue.
Hint: Nautical was everywhere last spring. Transition into fall by opting for polka-dots instead of stripes, like this navy blue and white polka-dot button-up. Pair with blue jeans, blue pants or baby blue shorts to keep with the variations of blue trend, or pop on over to hunter green, stone or khaki bottoms for a less blue look.
