ACCESSORIES REPORT: Mr. Beanie

Accessories Report

Hats are a standard on UGA’s campus. Usually, however, they’re of the baseball variety. That’s why when I spotted this Fashionisto on his way home from class, I had to stop him. His gray knit beanie certainly stood out from the crowd, but showed that he was right on trend. Beanies are not only a great way to keep your head warm, but they also keep you looking cool. I also like this version from ASOS. Although it’s technically for men, it would look equally brilliant for a bold Fashionista, especially if you give it a feminine spin with a floral dress and booties.

This dapper student’s black high top sneakers also caught my eye because they managed to add just the right amount of edge to his outfit, without looking over the top or silly. These sneakers highlighted the look, instead of overpowering it. Although his are Vans, this style from Nike is an excellent substitute. I have also recently developed a penchant for high top sneakers for girls, which was heavily influenced by several of my stylish heroines, such as the Man Repeller and Diane Kruger. These girls either rocked their high tops with skinny jeans or flouncy dresses. Slam dunk sneakers are not just for the men anymore.

The last element of this Fashionisto’s ensemble to hit a high note, was his incredible letterman style jacket from Urban Outfitters. This style of jacket maintains heat without bulking up. His version, which is also made from a cotton/polyester blend, offers a more breathable alternative to the classic wool variety.

Spotted: This inspiration board from Style.com shows that Varsity jackets are not just for jocks anymore.
