FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Grace Clark

Uncategorized

The sun has finally arrived and set the scene for a collection of sweltering summer style. The great thing about DePaul University is the diversity of the school and its fashion. The two campuses, Lincoln Park (the north side location) and the Loop (the inner city site), provide for different fashions and attitudes. Typically, students in the Loop have a business casual look, while those in Lincoln Park have more urban chic, funky fashion. This Fashionista is the epitome of the LP campus and emanates posh, fierce style.

This stylish lady’s outfit is perfect from head to toe. Fashion stems from Grace’s straw summer hat to her beaded belly shirt, all the way down to her white linen pants and black strappy wedges. Linen is the ultimate summer fabric as it allows a Fashionista/o to breathe while looking classy and stylish. Her accessories complete the look flawlessly.

Name: Grace Clark

Year: Junior

Major: Engineering

CollegeFashionista: If you were to describe your style in three words, what would they be?

Grace Clark: Charming, sophisticated, and relaxed– with a touch of fierce on the side.

CF: Who is your style icon?

GC: Me. I’m my own style icon. I am inspired by everything around me and dress accordingly. I love reading editorials and fashion magazines, as well as observing people on the street to get ideas.

CF: Sienna Miller or Leighton Meester?

GC: Leighton Meester/Victoria Beckham.

CF: Who are your favorite designers?

GC: Chloé, All Saints, Tory Burch, alice + olivia, Helmut Lang.

CF: What are your favorite fashion magazines?

CG: Harper's Bazaar, Nylon, and W.

CF: How do you alter your style to accommodate this scorching heat?

GC: I try to stick to linen in the summer and lighter clothing. I show a little more skin, but drape accessories to cover and tone down the look. I love sandals, and I am obsessed with heels– I do not do flats. During the summer I try to do wedges because they are comfortable and they have the height. In the evening I always bring a jacket. I always grab a blazer when I am going out. I also love painting my nails bright colors for the summer!

CF: You have great accessories, where do you find them?

GC: I have thrifted some great pieces, but my absolute favorite jewelry store is the Mexican Shop in Evanston. It has eclectic pieces and has everything you could ever want. The owners find jewelry from around the world, and organize the store by location, which I think it’s just awesome. You know no one will ever have the same pieces.

How to: Pair high-waist linens with a short tribal top or embellished tank. Choose wedges for comfort and style by opting for a pair like this. Accessorize with vintage jewelry and a jean jacket to add layers to minimal clothing during severe heat.
