I’ve always been inspired by skateboarders and the way they dress. While they never seem to take longer than ten minutes to get ready, they always appear to care about their appearance and pull off bold prints, colored denim and five panel hats like a pro. While this Fashionisto was without his skateboard, I could tell by his clothes the company he kept.

CollegeFashionista: So what are you wearing today?
John Francis: I am wearing a button-up and khaki pants from Topman, TOMS shoes, a Nixon watch, Herschel backpack and Huf hat.
CF: What influences your style?
JF: I enjoy camping and backpacking; therefore, most of my fashion choices have more of an outdoors masculine feel with a little urban streetwear mix. I also enjoy skating so I’m pretty picky about how my pants fit.
CF: What are some items you plan on buying for the upcoming season?
JF: For summer, I plan on buying some sort of patterned shorts. Not Aztec though, probably either floral or something reminiscent of the beach.
How To: The easiest way for a man to upgrade his wardrobe would be to invest in button-ups. They are great for either dressing up or keeping it casual. Topman and Urban Outfitters are both great places for exceptional button-ups. These are also great places to find hats to coordinate with your outfit. Subtle patterns like any of the current Obey hats are great to add character to any outfit.
