ACCESSORIES REPORT: Back to Black

Accessories Report

Bloomington has done it again. After weeks of rain, snow and the occasional freezing rain/snow combo, Indiana weather decided to throw us a curve ball with sunshine and highs in the 60s — and Fashionistas everywhere are showing their appreciation with pretty pastels and sleek accessories. New York Fashion Week is currently in progress and thanks to the fall preview collections that launched a few weeks ago, I can full-heartedly and confidently advise you to snag every pastel colored piece you come into contact with. Yummy ice cream-inspired colors are huge for both men and women this spring, whether mixed with neutrals or bold prints, and I’m stoked to see what Fashionistas/os are going to come up with. But, let’s not get ahead of ourselves… it is February and this is Indiana. So how can you be ahead of the game with your pastel palette without jumping the gun on the trend? Take a cue from this Fashionista I spotted on the north side of campus and balance your lights with sleek and edgy, neutral accessories to keep the winter vibe.

We all know our purses are just as much a part of our outfit as our blouse and jeans, but sometimes not one bag seems fit for the look. That’s where the black bag comes into play as the go-to, inevitable piece that is the perfect finishing touch. We have all heard the saying “black goes with anything and everything,” and although being the ambitious, creative Fashionistas we all are, sometimes trying to push outside the limits of black just leads to fashion-oopsies. Black isn’t boring or tiresome, but classy and refined, especially with cream embellishments like the one above!
