WHAT TO WEAR: Weekend Wear

What to Wear

If you are anything like me, the weekend is your relax, rewind and recover time from the past week. I will admit that most weekends all I want to do is strut around in my sweats and an oversized, old high school T-shirt. However, unless I am staying in my house all day away from civilization, that is not the outfit I want others to witness me wearing every weekend. Therefore, I have found the perfect ensemble for the weekend lazy days or even the weekend busy days.

This Fashionista is comfortable and put together. Nothing about her outfit screams overdone or too much, it is all combined effortlessly and perfectly. The first part of her outfit that caught my eye was her knit headband. The winds are definitely picking up in the Hudson Valley, especially at Marist since we are directly on the river’s edge. I absolutely hate when my hair gets blown around when I walk around campus. Girls, myself included, spend hours perfecting their hair before leaving the house, just to get it blown around outside. We end up looking like we just got off of a high-speed roller coaster! This Fashionista has found the elusive solution, a knit headscarf. Not only does this accessory keep your hair from flying around, it also keeps your ears nice and toasty when it gets chilly out. They come in a ton of colors, designs, and patterns. You can even find street vendors selling them in NYC for very cheap prices. It does not matter what style you are into, you can find them in any design to fit your personal flair.

Two other aspects of this Fashionista’s outfit to note, ones we have seen many times before, are her colored denim jeans and her black riding boots. These two trends are still going strong and can be spotted all over campus any day of the week. They are versatile and can be altered to fit your own personal style. I highly suggest adding these two items to your wardrobe if you have not already. You will not regret it!

I love this Fashionista’s simple gray shirt. It looks so comfortable and loose fitting. On a weekend no one wants to be worried about slipping into a tight fitting shirt, we want to be comfortable and relaxed. By wearing a flowing and oversized tee this Fashionista has accomplished just that.

The last part of the outfit I want to discuss is the intricate feather necklace. I have always been a fan of long necklaces. I believe they add a nice touch to an outfit and really tie all the loose ends of an outfit together. This necklace has a vintage feel to it that goes along with the dark maroon denim and the olive parka. It pulls your eye in and grabs your attention.

One Simple Change: Trade in those black riding boots for some studded black booties, add in a blazer and you will be ready for a rocking concert!
