I have a confession to make: I’m terrified of neon. Just thinking about the bright hue brings back flashbacks of bad '90s and '80s fashion that deserves to stay in the past. Much to my dismay, the fashion industry has been slowly reintroducing neon to the runways for the past few seasons. In the past, I have ignored neon as much as possible but this season the bright color caught my attention in a good way. During Fashion Week, every major fashion blogger or editor was spotted at least once with one accessory: the neon satchel.
When it comes to street style, there is nothing more eye-catching than a bright pop of neon. This Fashionista offset a head-to-toe black ensemble with a bright yellow-green neon bag. Her bag reminded me of the it-bag of the season: the Cambridge Satchel bags in neon colors like pink, yellow and green. The neon Cambridge Satchel has been seen on almost every fashion blogger this season and in the windows of stores like Bloomingdale’s and Saks Fifth Avenue. It is the perfect pop of neon to add dimension to a neutral outfit without resembling an '80s workout video.
Nordstrom has a similar neon bag made by Steven Madden for a more affordable price point. Another less expensive version of this bag is available at Target for less than 30 dollars! Accents of bright neon will liven up your spring wardrobe without going overboard. Think of these neon satchels as the caffeine to your outfit. Take note from this Fashionista and ease into the neon trend, your outfit will stand out in a good way!
