When the word ‘uniform’ comes to mind, I can’t help but think back to the twelve years of my life spent in a polo shirt and plaid pleated skirt. However, I can now report that I have definitely found a better application of the term in the casual separates that I turn to for an easy and effortless look.
Personally, the white tee is a staple in my closet, which appears in varying fits and shades. White is the perfect shade to build a look from since it will complement every colour and pattern. White is also a universally flattering colour that can do no wrong regardless of who wears this shade.
This closet staple was exactly what drew me to this week’s Fashionista. She pairs a simple white v-neck tee with cut off denim shorts to produce an easy look for a busy school day. A navy blazer is slung over her shoulder bag for easy access in case the weather takes a sudden drop in temperature. A white Blackberry and white sneakers finish off the look with complementary white accessories.
Finding the perfect white tee can take some time since there are many different components to this seemingly simple basic. Zara offers a contemporary twist on the white tee with cut out shoulders and modern asymmetric panels. Otherwise, stick with ASOS for your usual selection of slouchy tees and tanks.
