STYLE GURU BIO: Laura Childs

Style Guru Bio

Hey guys, I’m back this spring semester as a Style Guru at Boston University one last time. So who’s ready for round two? Before I go into my last semester at BU, I took a stroll down memory lane to see just how far I’ve come from moving across country four years ago. I loved seeing how much my personal style has evolved and my affinity for fashion has intensified.

I’ve always been one to break the rules, but I would describe my style as classic and chic. My motto is you always need one standout item in your outfit, whether it’s a trendy coat,  funky shoes or a pop of lipstick. I love to take simple pieces and combine them into an unconventional outfit. The favorite pieces I have in my closet for spring are a gray peacoat with leather sleeves, a pair of high-waisted Cheap Monday jeans and of course all of the pleated maxi skirts.

I’ve had great experiences in fashion like interning at Vogue in Paris. I loved discovering the fashion capital of the world, but I especially loved coming home and uncovering the hidden gems of Boston fashion as a Style Guru last semester.

In between finishing up my college career in Boston and looking for a job, I’ll be finding the most fashion-forward students for my column FASHIONISTA/O SPOTLIGHT every Wednesday. Last semester I was dedicated to finding people who broke the rules of fashion and created street style trends. But, this semester I’m interested in getting first-hand commentary about Boston street style. While I love seeing great outfits, this semester I’ll be bringing you the style and personality behind each of them.
