Truth be told, it’s not always easy pulling off the laidback look and have a casually fabulous outfit when you just stumbled out of bed. As Ben Sherman said, “Effortless cool is a detailed process.“ When I saw this Fashionista, I thought she embodied this effortless cool with her all black ensemble. While her outfit is simple and clean, she captures a nonchalance with her slouchy boots and suede jacket. This is a perfect outfit to wear on Monday morning when you’re heading to class, comfortable and chic!

CollegeFashionista: What are your favorite places to shop in Boston?
Michelle Rourk: I’m all over the place, but I’m into National Jean Company and Scoop.
CF: How would you describe your fashion style?
MR: My style is clean and comfortable, but always with an edge of leather or other textures.
CF: What is your favorite clothing item in your closet right now?
MR: It depends on my mood, but I rely on classic pieces, my favorite being a well tailored, black Ralph Lauren tuxedo blazer. I can throw it on over anything for any occasion.
CF: Who are your favorite designers?
MR: I love the clean lines of Céline and Cédric Charlier, but always find great staples from Theory.
CF: What trend are you most looking forward to this spring?
MR: I’m excited for the return and reinvention of the stripe! All of the stark white silhouettes are so great as well.
CF: What is your number one fashion pet peeve?
MR: Those galaxy print leggings.
How To: For a look similar to this Fashionista’s, start off with a pair of skinny jeans or jeggings like these J Brand Danica skinny jeans. With the moto calf zippers and the patchwork stitching, they’re a modern take on the classic skinny. Opt for a black top with a little edge like this Fashionista’s draped shirt. This Vince Camuto Surplice Top looks great underneath a leather jacket, a blazer or even a heavy knit cardigan. As for boots, try these Kelsi Dagger Max Moto Booties for a rocker vibe. Then, top the whole look off with a suede asymmetrical jacket like this SW3 Bespoke New Queensway Jacket.
