FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Carolyn Morris

Fashionista Spotlight

Leopard, and leather, and suede, oh my! This week’s fashion maven donned all three, compiling a look that was motocross chic and brimming with personality. The tri-colored deerskin jacket is alone a beautiful garment, but styled with a leopard scarf, Frye boots, and knotted graphic tee, the combination was one that would have any street style photographer whipping out their DSLRs. It doesn't hurt that Leandra “Man Repeller” Medine, a woman with one of the most covetable closets, also owns this jacket.

Name: Carolyn Morris

Year: Senior

Major: Communication Arts

CollegeFashionista: What's one thing you have on your Christmas list?

Carolyn Morris: I would really like a nice wallet. Currently I use a small key pouch and it's getting hard to keep organized. I feel like I have more cards every day, so more room would be nice to stay organized.

CF: What bloggers do you like to follow?

CM: Some of my friends have fashion blogs, so those are always fun to read. I also really like Because I’m Addicted; I think this blog does a great job of reaching a large audience, and I enjoy reading the fashion news articles they post.

CF: What store do you consider to have the best sartorial finds?

CM: That’s a hard question, but recently I've been really into Zara. I wish one were closer to Madison, because I like to try things on before I buy them. Overall, the whole Zara aesthetic really matches my style, very neutral colors and lots of color blocking. It’s classic with a modern twist, and easy to mix their pieces. They also recently launched a Zara Home collection, which I love to browse.

How To: For this look, start with the basics and work your way out. Begin with the tried-and-true dark denim and tee duo, but stick with a graphic tee to ensure your ensemble has the same visual intrigue as this Fashionista's. For practical (it is December after all) and sartorial purposes, grab your favorite patterned scarf, and rock a pair of motorcycle inspired mid-calf boots. Although the Chaser jacket shown in this post is sold out, try a similarly eye-catching one—like this 100 percent leather motorcycle jacket from ASOS. Your fusion of textures and neutral hues is sure to rival even the best of the fashion bloggers.
