Whether I’m waltzing around in six-inch platforms and pink tutus or rocking a pair of denim cut-offs topped with a skin-tight leotard and cowboy boots, my wardrobe choices are whimsical, transient and uncalculated, making it entirely impossible to assign my style to any one particular category. Personal style and clothing choices provide a visual narrative to my constant log of emotion and inspiration.
Designer Ralph Lauren once said, “Fashion is not necessarily about labels. It’s not about brands. It’s about something else that comes from within you.” Being the fashionable non-conformist that I am, I could not agree with him more.
As an innate storyteller, I tend to gravitate towards articles of clothing that will tell a story rather than following seasonal trends. I find street style photography fascinating as it provides a visual narrative of an individual as a person. Focusing on the importance of clothing in personal expression will undoubtedly redefine, revive and refocus the original purposes of fashion: to create and celebrate art, beauty, culture and identity.
I am beyond eager to take on the role as Dickinson College’s first Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, and I cannot wait to share with you all the visual stories I plan to capture through my campus portraits!
