I cannot lie, the longest amount of time that I have spent in the presence of cowboy boots included standing in the Chipotle line behind a group going to a country concert at Brick Street. Even then, the people were dressed head to toe in flannel and denim cutoffs (the boys too). So you can imagine my surprise when I found this Fashionista walking to class rocking a very cool pair of cowboy boots with jeans and a studded silk top! The perfect marriage of country and city if you ask me.
Most days, the cowboy boot does not get the credit it deserves. It can come in all shapes and sizes, colors and finishes. Over the years, there have been many variations of said boot. It can be counted on to add a rustic touch to any outfit. Urban Outfitters’ Urban Renewal line offers a classy vintage option, with each one-of-a-kind pair handcrafted in Philadelphia from extra vintage materials. If you’re looking for a more traditional cowboy boot, Justin’s Boots makes a wide variety. One pair is shown here.
Pair your cowboy boots with some skinny jeans and a billowy blouse or tee, like this one from Shopbop for a rustic cosmopolitan look. I especially love this one from Zara with its simple detailing in the breast pockets and shoulder studs.
Next time you’re at the shoe store, remember this quote from an anonymous writer: “A pair of shoes can change your life. Just ask Cinderella.” A cowboy boot may not be a glass slipper, but you can certainly make your own fairy tale.
