WHAT TO WEAR: Casual Date Night

What to Wear

So, you’ve been asked on a date and you’re headed to a restaurant that’s not a black dress and heels type of venue, but you still want to look dressed up. It’s hard to find that happy medium between fancy and casual, because you don’t want to be too much of either. But I think it’s safe to say that one thing that’s pretty universal for Fashionistas, is we love to dress up.

The most important thing to remember when dressing for a date, especially a first date, is to be yourself. Don’t over think it and don’t wear anything too far out of your comfort zone. You want to be confident during a date and feeling self-conscious about what you’re wearing will only take away from that. I know from experience that when you’re trying to get dressed for something important and you’re searching for that perfect something to wear, your closet full of clothes looks more like a black hole. Give yourself plenty of time to get ready so unnecessary stress doesn’t take away from all of your excitement.

This Fashionista knew just what to do for a casual date. To start off, her solid color dress is the perfect building block to a great outfit. ASOS has the best selection of skater dresses that I’ve ever found, ranging from solid colors to patterns, at affordable prices. These kinds of dresses are great to build off of and accessorize with, no matter where you’re going. This Fashionista did a really good job of balancing a casual date night look by adding a more sophisticated collared necklace up top and more rugged combat boots on the bottom. However, the thing I love most about this Fashionista’s look are the floral tights! I’m a sucker for patterns and I love the way these give the whole outfit such a fun and feminine look.

One Simple Change: To make this outfit suitable for a fancier date night, go with bare legs, black heels, and a fitted black blazer on top.
