Wearing red around UCLA’s campus is probably not the safest move—especially the week following the football team’s domination over USC’s now unranked team. One exception to this death-wish is rocking red for the sake of fashion. Wearing reds, such as burgundy, is a great way to brighten your fall wardrobe.
This week’s Fashionista—though a true bruin—rocks the red in the right way. Her backless shirt is from Foreign Exchange, her black leggings are from Forever 21, her cheetah print scarf is from Target, her combat boots are from a local shoe store called Topshoes and her watch is by Michael Kors.
What I love most about her look is that she matches her red shirt with a red lip. I am not one that usually approves of multiple parts of your look being the same color, but this Fashionista puts it together in the right way. The cheetah print scarf provides a nice break between the red of her lips and the red of her shirt thus making the red pairing not too much but instead aesthetically pleasing. This Fashionista notes that her red lips are by Revlon lipstick in black cherry. To emulate her look, try any of the Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks or the MAC Cosmetics Viva La Glam lipsticks.
Take notes from this Fashionista and create consistency in your beauty routine and clothing-choice. Don’t be afraid to match colors on your face with colors in your outfit. Having similar shades in each respect can make your look appear more cohesive. Your facial features are great accessories for any look. Instead of a statement necklace, try a bold lip or a bright blush. A pinch of colorful makeup will never hurt. Whether you want to rock the red or the better blue, incorporating color on your lips or on your eyes will only enhance your style.
