I absolutely love the combination of black and gold. Whether it is the embellishments on a black handbag, or an arm full of gold bangles with an all black outfit, it’s one look that I’m always ready to grab at. The blend seems to stay alive in the fashion world season after season. As seen with Jason Wu in his fall 2012 runway show, he used gold embellishments on many of his all black ensembles. With a look as iconic and renovated as this, it’s always interesting to see how fellow Fashionista’s combine the two.
This Fashionista embodies the black and gold look through her D.I.Y studded shorts and gold-chained cross necklace. The gold studded detailing, found both on the front and back pockets, is an innovative way to use gold in an outfit. As seasons change, think twice before throwing your pair of studded shorts, which were a hot commodity this summer, in the back of your closet. Pairing studded shorts with a cable knit sweater balances the look for that in between weather that has almost every Fashionista/o pulling their hair out in angst. This Fashionista did exactly that by pairing the shorts with a sweater for a more casual look. Her necklace is another accessory that stands out in this outfit. The size of the necklace doesn’t overrule the outfit, due too its granite appearance against the black top. The gold chain ties in with the gold studs, in an amusing way to play up the gold throughout the outfit. Since her outfit has several loud accessories, the pairing of a simple black sweater and roped sandals helps one not be overwhelmed. It’s a great use of the duo in a more edgy look.
This Fashionista shows us that imagination is always key. She found a solution to keep her favorite summer must-haves with her fall wardrobe. By using black and gold she stays on trend, but is creative with how she does it. Next time you’re pondering on what to wear, see what route you’ll go with black and gold. A duo that cannot be beat!
