STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Embody Autumn

Style Advice of the Week

As an aspiring copywriter for advertising, I have a shameless word nerd in me. Famous or anonymous, my word nerd adores an eloquently crafted, thought-provoking quote. I’ve stumbled upon a new favorite this week: “I am so grateful that I live in a world where there are Octobers.” Simple, but significant, and incredibly appropriate once I caught a glimpse of this Fashionista sporting a crisp, autumnal ensemble despite the anything-but-crisp Miami air.

The clean white top and leather bag with woven details can be staples any time of year, but what makes this outfit perfectly seasonal is her choice of burnt orange shorts and combat boots.

Burnt orange can be worked into pretty much any piece of an outfit this time of year and it works for the same reason Starbuck’s Pumpkin Spice Latte is such a hit—we love autumn, and this color is the color of October. Homemade pumpkin pie, leaves spotting roadsides and creating fiery piles beneath every tree, burnt orange speaks to all of the beautiful things Northerners miss about our dear, crisp October once we make the move to Miami. Try it in any accessory, like this scarf or even in a pair of jeans.

Combat boots have been incredibly in for quite a while now, and for good reason. They are a comfortable addition to any fall wardrobe. My favorites are these Troopa from Steve Madden—they’re durable, cute, and best of all, quite affordable for a pair of nice boots with a long shelf life.

Don’t wait until the 31st to celebrate October. Do so every day by embodying the mood of the season in your style.
