When it comes to style, some people just have it. As a society, we tend to look up to celebrities and people in the public eye for ideas on what to wear, and for good reason. Ninety-nine percent of them work with professional stylists whose job it is to research what the latest trends are and what will look good on their client. People in the public eye also get to pick from top designers that most of us can only dream of wearing. Although it’s fun to see what new trends celebrities are wearing, we sometimes forget that some of the best trendsetters can be people walking by us on the sidewalk!
I could tell right away that this week’s Fashionisto has natural style with this head-to-toe look and the confidence to match. He’s wearing a white button-down, striped cardigan, black skinny jeans and black oxfords. These pieces are all very simple on their own, but the way he put them together and his attention to detail are what makes this week’s Fashionisto a true trendsetter. For example, he keeps the fit slim so it looks clean and modern. Details like rolling his sleeves over his cardigan and buttoning his shirt all the way up reiterate his neat, put together vibe.
This Fashionisto is also sporting some great accessories. In my opinion, accessories make the outfit, and that definitely rings true in this case. His shoes are an oxford style, a step up from the average tennis shoe, but still comfortable and much more classy. He chose to wear a wrist accessory on each hand including a gold watch and a wrap bracelet so he doesn’t have to risk showing a bare wrist when raising his hand in class. He’s also wearing a dog tag necklace that gives the look a little edge, the look is finished off with a chic laptop bag and a driver cap. Of course I can't forget to mention his best accessory of all, a fashionable friend!
Hint: Don’t be afraid to accessorize! If style isn’t something that comes naturally to you, ask a sartorially-inclined friend to help you find a balance between over-accessorizing and a great outfit. With a skillful eye, accesories can elevate a boring outfit into a fashion forward outfit.
