ACCESSORIES REPORT: Neutrality Act

Accessories Report

Most of the time the accessories which I “ooh” and “aah” over are the ones that are in a bright color or have some kind of attribute that makes it stand out. Accessories that draw attention are great, but there is also a place in every girl’s closet for those practical accessories that you can wear with anything and still look great.

Because this Fashionsta’s cute, patterned jeans from American Eagle are so bold it wouldn’t be wise to choose equally bold accessories that would fight for attention. Instead, she went with accessories in a neutral and universally flattering tan color. Some people may think that the word “neutral” equals boring, but they couldn’t be more wrong! When you keep your accessories neutral you have the opportunity to show off a crazier item of clothing. Or on the opposite end, add to a head to toe neutral look that always looks clean and classic.

This Fashionista’s cross-body purse from ALDO is perfect for walking around campus because it leaves her hands free for eating lunch on the go between classes or opening heavy classroom doors without being in the way. Her tan boots by Steve Madden are the perfect year round boots that can be worn for fall/winter with jeans and heavy socks or in the spring with bare legs and a sundress. A fun detail that I didn’t notice right away was the little owl buckle on her thin, tan belt. Quirky details can add so much to an outfit when they aren’t in your face saying, “Look at me!” She finished off her outfit with thrifted earrings in the perfect shade of pink with a gold outline.

Spotted: Rachel Zoe complemented her spring 2013 ready-to-wear line with handbags in hues of black, brown, nude and deep green.
