Style Guru Bio

To me, fashion is inspiring, invigorating and, most of all, fun! Just as I believe fashion influences how I present myself, I also believe my passion for music has a huge influence on my style of fashion. Recently, my bigger influences come from overseas. I just can’t get enough of the different cultural influences there are out there. With a background in garment making, fashion design, and marketing, I have developed a greater appreciation over the years for the fashion industry and I hope I will be able to reflect this through my future posts.

Now a little bit about me. As a CollegeFashionista Style Guru this spring semester, I’m going to be extremely excited to share with you the styles seen here at the University of Illinois. I’m currently majoring in Communication in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. As a junior, this internship will give me more insight into what career path I want to embark on. Some of my hobbies include sketching, listening to music, writing and checking up on what celebrities are wearing (either red carpet or casual) which often leads to online shopping for similar outfits.

To get my winter look check out these finds. At Urban Outfitters, you are sure to discover fashionable items at great prices such as this warm leather jacket. While this jacket is very stylish, it is also warm with its high ribbed collar and versatile enough to go with different outfits. Sears is also featuring a biker jacket that would also look great for a rocker chic look. Finally, do not forget to top everything off with a festive scarf. Forever 21 currently has these beautifully knit scarves that are fringed. For the winter, these are definitely the go-to accessories.

Everyone should have fun with their own style and with the constant change of weather, there will definitely be many Fashionistas and Fashionistos strutting around campus. Don’t be shocked if I stop you in your tracks one day just to have a mini photo shoot and interview with you on what/whom you are wearing. Don’t forget to look out for my Monday posts, STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK, whenever you want get the latest trends on campus and where to purchase trendy articles of clothing. Until then, remember to keep up with your school work and stay inspired.
