This week's Fashionista adds a punch to patriotism with her neon cross-body bag. Paired with a cropped American flag tank and navy paper-bag cut shorts, senior Kelsey Ives beats the summer heat in style.
To give her red, white and blue ensemble a colorful kick, Ives opts for a summer favorite: the neon green satchel bag. Not only does the pop of color add character to Kelsey's look, but it also creates a fashionable focal point to set this fourth of July ensemble apart from the crowd.
Name: Kelsey Ives
Year: Senior
Major: Fashion merchandising
CollegeFashionista: Where do you typically look to for style inspiration?
Kelsey Ives: I guess just fashion forecasting websites like fashionsnoops.com or my favorite website, Shopbop. I'm constantly on Shopbop.
CF: Are there any trends you're looking forward to wearing for Fall 2012?
KI: Probably a vintage fur coat because I've been trying to find one for years and I still haven't found one. I'm still on the hunt.
CF: Are there any items from the summer season you'll be transitioning to fall?
KI: I really want a pair of pointy metallic heels. A nice pair of transitional metallic shoes is something I think I could really use.
CF: What are the three items in your wardrobe that you couldn't go without?
KI: Combat boots, high waisted black skinny jeans and my big Versace sunglasses.
How To: Get this Fashionista's look by brightening a neutral ensemble with a neon accessory. Pair this season's neon necklaces with a white-on-white look, or a bright bag with back-to-black basics.
