I’ve yet to determine whether I feel that Florida’s eternal summer is a good thing or not, but one pro that the constant heat does offer is that much of what you wear in the fall can be used again in summer (or vice versa). This Fashionista sports a jean jacket which, in Florida, is popular in both summer and early fall, since the temperature stays so high during these times. That means many Floridian Fashionistas probably have one stored away. Not to mention, sundresses go hand-in-hand with the Sunshine State as well, so much of what this Fashionista wears can be found in your closet with minimal digging and searching.

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing and where is it from?
Christine Nguyen: I’ll start top to bottom. I’m wearing these feather earrings which are from Wet Seal; I think. This denim jacket, I got it at a thrift store. Actually, I got this dress… it says ‘Billabong’ on it, but I got it at a thrift store too. It looks pretty old. I got this necklace at Forever 21 for buying a lot of stuff, and they gave it to me. And then, these shoes I got them at Wet Seal too. I found the watch in my friend’s car, and she didn’t know whose it was, so I was just going to borrow it until she figured it out.
CF: How would you describe your style?
CN: My style? I don’t know. I don’t usually have a word to describe it. I try a whole bunch of different styles. Today actually I was going to wear a denim vest, but it looked too big with the dress and was awkward, so I put on a jacket instead. I like to try the older clothes, but I’m not really into vintage. I just like thrifting.
CF: Where is your favorite place to shop in Orlando?
CN: There’s this thrift store called Decoes. It’s on Colonial. It’s across from the Colonial Plaza, and it’s this little resale store. Some of the stuff are really old, really '90s, and a lot of the stuff people are just going to sell clothes. You have to set up an appointment to donate clothes, so I guess they look at the good stuff. It’s not like a Goodwill.
CF: What’s your favorite trend?
CN: I love scarves. I’m not wearing one right now, because it would’ve been too hot. It’s hard, because a lot of the things I like to wear doesn’t work with the summer in Florida.
How To: The great thing about this Fashionista’s look is that it leaves a lot of room for you to spice it up with your own flair. The basic recipe for this look is a floral sundress, a jean jacket and a pair of wedges. Accessorizing can depend on the Fashionista. This one chose feather earrings, a long necklace and my favorite part of her outfit, a unique square watch.
