Hello Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Katy Garrison and I am so excited to be writing STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK at the University of Idaho! I will be beginning my senior year this fall as a Clothing, Textiles, and Design major with an emphasis in Apparel Merchandising. While I have become a Vandal over the past few years, I am first and foremost a loyal Seattlite. I have lived in the beautiful Pacific Northwest for my entire life and it has definitely had a huge impact on my personal style. I am a Nordstrom lover through and through, but also a die-hard fan of Urban Outfitters. As an employee of Nordstrom for the past few years, I have been able to expand my knowledge of fashion as well as the apparel industry itself. I, one day, would like to work as a buyer and have loved the experiences that Nordstrom has given me.
As far as personal style is concerned, I love to mix contemporary styles with classic pieces that I can wear forever. I have a feminine chic personal style that pairs tailored, basic pieces with flowy brights and patterns. I love to mix and match patterns and prints to give a fun textured look to any outfit. Although Moscow, ID shopping pails in comparison to that of my hometown, there seems to be an almost endless supply of thrifting locations, which are the perfect place to find one of a kind vintage pieces. I love finding unique accessories that have interesting histories. I am also a firm believer that accessories are the key to making or breaking any outfit. I am obsessed with the current arm candy trend; it is the perfect way to update a look.
I can’t wait to share my style tips this fall because when you look great, you feel great!
