Style Guru Bio: Katie Panousis

Style Guru Bio

Hello CollegeFashionista readers! My name is Katie Panousis and I'm entering my fourth year at Queen's University in Kingston, ON. I study both Psychology and Theater and find the dichotomy of the arts and sciences to be fascinating. Many of the reasons I love my double major extend into the reasons I love fashion. Fashion is the balance of the rough and the polished, the bright and the neutral, the glamorous and the understated. Kingston itself is a physical embodiment of old meeting new. Each September, new life is integrated into the historical charm of the city, helping it flourish and develop with a sense of inspiration. It's my job, dear readers, to show you exactly what these students have to offer, and with any luck you can be as inspired by them as I am!

In terms of my personal style, I love anything vintage. Kingston has a plethora of quaint vintage boutiques where one can pick up anything from a sparkly trinket, like a $5 pearl-studded clutch, to more classic pieces, like my forest green Danier leather jacket that was only $20! Texture is another obsession of mine. Everything from leather to lace, sequins to tweed, feathers to silk. My closet is constantly expanding to include unique pieces that will be able to mirror my mood at any given time.

Fashion, to me, is the quintessence of cultural growth and the evolution of art as a whole. It’s so important to keep it's pulse alive as it truly helps to document human creativity and does so by connecting elements of the past, the present and the future. I hope the looks I chronicle over the next few months will help to give all of you a glimpse into the imagination, innovation and inspiration that is fashion in Kingston and beyond. Can't wait to begin, cheers m'dears!
